The Opportunity
This role will take ownership of the electrical engineering function and help set the standard for how design, validation, and product development are done moving forward.

What You’ll Do:
- Establish and implement structured engineering design processes
- Introduce and drive:
- Design for manufacturing (DFM / DFX)
- APQP and structured product development
- Ensure designs meet regulatory, safety, and performance standards
- Standardize engineering tools and workflows (EPLAN / AutoCAD Electrical)
- Lead design validation, including calculations, documentation, and testing approach
- Work closely with production to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and scalable
- Act as a technical authority for complex engineering decisions
- Mentor and support the engineering team, raising overall capability
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Prepare and communicate technical reports and project updates

- Clear, repeatable engineering processes are in place
- Designs are consistently validated with proper calculations and documentation
- Strong alignment between engineering and production
- Reduced risk across safety, compliance, and quality
- Improved capability and consistency across the team

What We’re Looking For: Technical Background
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong background in power electrical systems:
- Generation, transmission, or distribution
- Experience with:
- Product design (not just project execution)
- Design for manufacturing
- Engineering validation and calculations
- Familiar with:
- APQP, FMEA, control plans
Tools
- EPLAN preferred
- Strong AutoCAD Electrical experience is acceptable
Certification
- P.Eng required
Regulatory Experience
- CSA, UL (North America)
- CE, IEC (Europe)
- IECEx is an asset

Compensation and Benefits:
- Base salary: $140,000 – $160,000, with some flexibility for the right candidate
